These are examples of recyclable items. Recycled items can be bagged or loose in your cart. The MRF operates as a single stream operation, therefore you do not need to sort or separate your recyclables.
GENERAL HOUSEHOLD WASTE RULES
NON-ACCEPTABLE ITEM LIST: Yard waste, construction debris, wood/lumber scrap metal/ metal car parts, ammunition, lithium-ion batteries, or hazardous materials of any kind in any of the containers will not be accepted. Hazardous materials like Pool Cleaners, Muriatic Acid/Hydrochloric Acid can melt the steel bodies of our trucks and Lithium-Ion Batteries start fires. These items will damage the trucks and could hurt our employees. Please contact us for a special pickup or information on the county’s special hazardous waste days. Please contact us before putting animal carcasses in containers. Bagging of your trash is encouraged to keep the containers cleaner. The cleanliness of the containers is the resident’s responsibility. Anything left outside of the containers will NOT be collected along our routes, no exceptions. Unfortunately, we have had too many cases where our crew thought something was trash and it was not, and we have had to replace it. Please utilize the Onslow County Convenience sites for extra waste.
